Shop Your Values

My activism has always been on the quiet side, especially when it comes to this shop. I feel everything so deeply, but I don’t have a loud voice (metaphorically), so supporting causes behind the scenes is what comes naturally to me. Even though it’s not always loud and obvious, this business has always been values-driven—my own personal protest against corporations, fast retail, a dying planet, slave labor, design theft, inequality… Every brand I choose to work with both create original and quality products, and are mindful of ethical labor practices and the environment. Not only that, but most of them are minority owned or cause-driven in nature, and many of them are actively engaged in fighting social justice and climate issues.

Beyond the baseline work I do, I never really know what to do to effect change in this little community, or how to bring more people into it. In fight or flight, I freeze. Especially this time of year when days feel short and time spent in sunshine is so preciously small. And today of all days…I just feel so lost for what to do. I always joke that I want to be rich just so I can give away all my money and change the world, but I’m not even close to that lol so here is the little contribution I can make for today:

Last year, I sorted our brands and made it easier for our customers to shop online based on values/brand ownership. Now, I've added 2 new segments: Palestine and LA-Based, both so so heavy on my heart. You can both support us and our brands that need our help to recover from the terrible disasters they’ve lived through, all while getting things you need! (Olive oil, soap, socks, moisturizer, gifts, candy (yes you need candy)). We love you all and are so grateful for your support of us and our brands 💙💙
